World Meditation Day, 2025

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Students Across the Globe to Join in Stillness for Children’s World Meditation Day 2025

April 9, 2025
Collingwood, Ontario

Classrooms have become increasingly overwhelmed by stress, distraction, and emotional dysregulation but a Canadian-led initiative is helping students find peace through stillness. On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, tens of thousands of students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 will pause for a few quiet moments as part of Children’s World Meditation Day, a grassroots movement that began in a single Ontario classroom.

Founded by national and provincial award-winning teacher and TEDx speaker Tyler Boyle, Children’s World Meditation Day is part of the larger Dreamwalkers Meditations initiative, which provides free meditation programming and training for educators across the globe. Last year, 23,415 students participated worldwide. The goal for 2025 is 50,000 students, and the registration numbers are quickly climbing.

“The day is a beautiful reminder that calmer kids and calmer classrooms are possible. Even in the chaos of today's classrooms,” says Boyle. “Teachers and parents don’t need fancy tools or elaborate programs to help kids reset. They just need a moment and a couple breaths.”

What makes this initiative unique is its accessibility - a virtual event with pre-recorded and live participation options. Parents and educators can sign up and receive free, age-appropriate meditation materials and follow up activities to enrich the experience. The meditations are designed to be brief but effective for a wide range of learners, including those with neurodiverse needs.

Children’s World Meditation Day 2025 is more than a celebration - it’s a growing global movement to support youth mental health, emotional resilience, and children's well-being... and it all started with one local teacher who invited his class to try a little moment of stillness each day.

Our Story

A message from Dreamwalkers Meditations Creative Director Tyler Boyle:

“Being a meditator myself, I wanted to share the benefits of the practice with my elementary school students so I began Dreamwalkers Meditation Club with a colleague of mine. There was a lack of free high-quality child-centred guided meditations available on YouTube so I began creating my own.

The club grew quickly, with parents and teachers beginning to attend alongside the students. After observing an improvement in the children’s mood, cognitive flexibility and focus, parents began asking how they could support this practice at home and teachers began asking how they could use these meditations in their classroom. To address these requests, Dreamwalkers Meditations as an educational and mental wellness support was born.”

Dreamwalkers Meditations are being used in more than seven school boards in Ontario - and counting. Several schools play Dreamwalkers Mindful Minutes over the announcements every day for the whole school to take part simultaneously.

Meditation is an evidence-based proactive mental health strategy with teachers reporting immediate results after just one session, and longer sustained results when used daily. Short-term effects are calmer students with increased focus, decreased chatter and increased resilience in both academics and social interactions. The longterm impact is greater self-regulation, healthier interactions, positive sense of Self and increased body awareness.

It’s not a wonder that the Dreamwalkers Community is growing so quickly. This is mindfulness made easy!
